World Book Day Give Away

Today is a celebration of books. All across the world, book lovers are celebrating the International Day of the Book.

World Book Day has been a part of literary history since 1923 and originated in Catalonia Spain.

Here are some interesting facts about World Book Day:

  • In 1995 UNESCO chose the date of April 23rd as World Book Day as a way to honor William Shakespeare and Inca Garcilaso de la Vega. They both died on this date.
  • Those in the UK celebrate in March.
  • In Spain, Don Quixote is read during a two-day "readathon" and the Miguel de Cervantes Prize is given by the Spanish king
  • It is celebrated by over 100 countries.
  • Each year they pick a World Book Day capital and in 2017 it is located in Conakry, Guinea
  • This year the RWBB crew is doing a give-away!

We hope you have a wonderful day celebrating World Book Day.
If you'd like to share with us here, we'd love to have you leave a comment about the first romance you ever read. I will start...mine was the Flame and the Flower by Kathleen Woodiwiss. That book was eye-popping, crazy-sauce, and romantic. I need to re-read it soon just to see if it stands up to the same impression as it did two decades ago.
Christa
