Excerpt
By the time we got home, I was exhausted, which hardly made any sense given how little I’d actually done. But I was, and after a delicious barbecue dinner downstairs with Emma, James and the twins, we retired to bed early. The sun had sucked the life right out of us until we were nothing but limp noodles half a shade darker than when we’d started.
“You got a bit of a burn on your shoulders,” Jake murmured as we lay on the bed, not touching because of how hot it was. “Do you want me to put some aloe on it?”
Not bothering to open my eyes, I grunted a yes and then I felt him leave the bed, only to return a few seconds later and straddle my upturned butt. “Get off me. It’s too hot to be skin-to-skin,” I moaned, already feeling the sweat getting trapped between us.
“Quit moaning, you big baby. Let the doctor work.” His hands were sorcery, even with just the aloe. He massaged and rubbed, thumbs kneading into knots I didn’t even know my shoulders had until I was a puddle of human butter, supple and pliant. I must have dozed off or something, because Jake’s voice startled me. “Are you close?”
“Close to what?” I murmured.
“Coming.”
My eyes popped open, and I craned my neck around to give him an eyeball. “No, why would I be close to coming?”
“The way you were moaning … kind of thought you might have been having a bit of feminine hysteria.” His smile was all playful, and his hands grew more and more brazen as they curved around from my back, cradling my ribcage and cupping my breasts.
“Feminine hysteria?” He helped me roll over until I was on my back and he was straddling my front.
He nodded. “And now, I see that you burned your chest a bit as well.” He clucked his tongue while shaking his head. “Silly, silly. Best to take your swimsuit off and let me apply more aloe.”
Rolling my eyes, I obliged. “You’re incorrigible.”
“Shh, crazy lady. Let the doctor do what he needs to do.”
He continued with his tireless ministrations until an all-too-noticeable bulge appeared in his shorts. His hands, which had started on the burn on my chest, had somehow made their way down my stomach and were probing beneath my bottoms. “Again, you fiend?” I moaned. “I don’t know if I can.”
He pulled them down my legs until I was naked on the bed. The fan in the corner hit my aloe-cooled skin, causing a sudden chill to sweep over me. “One more time, and then I’ll let you sleep. You don’t even have to do anything, you can just lie there and enjoy.” Then he ducked his head between my legs and all was right with the world … at least for that moment.
