A steamy Navy SEAL, billionaire heroine romantic suspense.
With danger at every turn, can this Navy SEAL protect the woman he's vowed to rescue, as well as his heart?
Roberto Cahill is all too familiar with difficult missions, but this particular one is proving to be the most challenging. Struggling to fit back into civilian life after retiring as a Navy SEAL, he started his own private investigation company, charging a small fortune to find people and their secrets. Recently hired by the wealthy McAllister brothers, finding their long-lost sister should be an easy assignment, right? Wrong. Skyler McAllister is one tough woman who's on the run for her life. She has the smarts, skills and funds to keep herself on the move, and no matter how hard Rob tries, she always seems to be one step ahead of him. Can Rob find her before whoever's chasing her does? Can he deliver her to her brothers and out of harm's way without letting the green-eyed vixen with a stubborn streak get captured? Or will letting his guard down be his most dangerous assignment of all?
Skyler McAllister is on the run. She knows too much and the men who murdered her boyfriend want her dead, too. With her late father's inheritance funding her travels, and her skills forging passports helping her change her name and identity, she's managed to stay under the radar and one step ahead of the bad guys. Only she lets her guard down when sexy, smooth-talking Cahill crosses her path. Not only do his kind eyes make her want to trust again, find a connection and someone to hold onto, but she finds herself falling for him. Only, she hasn't trusted a soul in so long, it doesn't come easily anymore and she struggles to let Rob in.
However, trust is the only way they'll survive. With their lives endangered, can Skyler risk trusting a man again, particularly one who could so easily take her heart, then possibly walk away forever?
Excerpt
“Care to talk about it?”
He shook his head. “I’d rather do something else.” He
scooped her up in his muscles and carried her up the beach. She looped her arms
around his neck and finally allowed her body to relax. Despite the fact that
they were stranded on an island, she felt safe. Even if just for this moment,
she was safe in Rob’s arms. And at least she wasn’t alone, finally. It had been
ages since she’d shared more than a genuine minute with someone, and she
couldn’t imagine anyone she’d rather be stranded with than the sexy Navy SEAL
who was carrying her up the beach to their bed of palm fronds.
The moon shone bright against the water, causing the
night to seem far less dark than it was. Less scary. But even if the sky was a
blanket of clouds and dark as pitch, Skyler wouldn’t be scared with Rob. He was
a protector. He was her protector.
When they reached the makeshift bed, he knelt down and
gently placed her on the leaves. His eyes seared her skin as they raked her
from head to toe. She nibbled on her bottom lip and let her gaze travel the
long, hard length of him. He hadn’t bothered to shave, and the stubble gripping
his chin and cheeks was darker and thicker than that first day he walked into
the dive shop. Into her life.
“You’re beautiful,” he murmured, tracing a lone finger
down the side of her arm. She trembled beneath his touch, longing for him to do
it again, to move his hand farther down and do it more. Touch her more.
“So are you,” she breathed, reaching for him.
His mouth turned up into a wily grin as he covered her
body, pinning her beneath him.
“Quick and dangerous, huh?” he asked. Their noses touched
and he rocked against her.
“Well, I hope it’s not that quick.” She chuckled. “But why not feel and live as we run
for our lives?”
His arousal pressed hard and needy into her hip as he
rocked against her again. “Oh, querida,
it won’t be quick, that I can guarantee.”
His mouth fell against hers and his tongue swept inside,
demanding and powerful. She moaned against him, opening for him and lifting her
lips up to meet his. There really wasn’t much fabric between them. She was in a
bikini and he was in board shorts. It would take nothing for them to be in nothing.
Oh how she wished they were in nothing.
Rob’s hand came up to her neck and around the back of her
head. His fingers gripped her hair at the nape and tugged. Pain and pleasure
zinged through her, making her feel more alive, more in the moment than she had
in ages. The man knew just how to make her burn, what she needed before she
knew she needed it. He unhooked the clasp of her bathing suit at the base of
her neck and then the second clasp at the center of her back.
He relieved her of her top, tossing it to the side, and
wasted no time dropping his wet, hot mouth to her nipple. Rob drew the hard,
tight bud into his mouth and tugged. Skyler arched into him, greedy for more.
He palmed the other breast and pinched the nipple, pulling it between thumb and
forefinger, earning a low groan from the back of Skyler’s throat. She dug her
fingers into his scalp, pushing his head down onto her breast and demanding
more.
He gave her more.
His teeth scissored over her aching peak, making all the
blood rush to her chest and her pulse race.
Yes.
