A: Today we're talking with Jeanne St. James -- one of my favorite go to people for help on the Internet and immenently organized Goddess!!! She happens to be a great erotic romance writer too with Loose Id -- my own publisher.
Hello, Jeanne. Glad I could finally hook up with you for this interview -- it's been a long time coming! Now, right into the questions. What’s the kinkiest, sexiest thing you’ve ever done:
J: I’ve been tied up. I’ve been spanked. And some other fun stuff I can’t mention.
A: You naughty girl!!!! Sometime I'll have to catch up with you to find out more. You can change the names of the innocent and all ;>
Usually it follows that you're more open in your writing. Just how bad do you get with your writing, are we talking just suggestion or down right bondage?
J: I included some bondage in my latest release, my interracial ménage DOUBLE DARE. I wrote in some tying up, spanking, blindfolding, role-playing, and much more. It was a lot of fun. In fact, I love the publisher’s warning:
Publisher's Note: This book contains explicit sexual content, graphic language, and situations that some readers may find objectionable: Anal play/intercourse, BDSM theme & content, male/male sexual practices, ménage (m/m/f).
A: I always love to read the warning labels--- you sometimes know more about what the books about than the blurb tells you. Yours says Scortching Romance - Watch Out. Your pants will be on fire.
What’s the best thing you’ve ever written—the best line?
J: I don’t know if this is the best but it’s one of my favorite little “bits” (between Logan and Quinn in DOUBLE DARE):
“What kind of sex do you like?” His voice sounded low and gruff to his own ears.
“The kind when I get to come.”
A:That's a killer line... Love it. I have all kinds of images of what those men look like and wowser I'm getting hot. To help me out here, if you could have any movie star take on a role as one of your heroes, who would it be?
J: I think I would have Tyson Beckford (the super model) play my Ty (an ex-pro football player) in Double Dare. I did model him after that handsome hunk.
A: I like Tyson!!! I think he's soo sexy.
For some, size counts… on average how loooooonnnnnggg do you like your (um, how do we put it delicately) manuscripts to be ;> ( in words silly, not inches) and how steamy?
J: I prefer them to be 55,000 to 65,000 words, BUT I really liked writing my m/m erotic novella, Rip Cord, which if I remember correctly is about 20,000 words.
A: What are the hardest scenes to write for you?
J: I don’t know, really. I never thought about it. It depends on the story. I know with Double Dare there is a phone sex/masturbation scene that took me forever to write. I just got “hung up” on it. LOL! But usually sex scenes are easy for me.
A: So I gotta know... writing all these sexy men, you must have a list of fantasies you would like to live out. How close in real life have you gotten to one of your fantasies?
J: Ummmmm. Yeah. I’ll pass on this question. But thanks for asking!
A: Oh, I really must corner you sometime to learn more but I'm running out of time. Better finish my last few questions: What would you want other writers and your readers to know about you?
J: That I’m a huge Steelers fan. I got married barefoot on the beach last October in St. Lucia, West Indies (to my man of 9 years). I’m an emergency dispatcher and my husband’s a Trooper. We are a real pair!
A: I'm in Colts territory here !!! My sister was a dispatcher/controll --- that's an emotioanlly taxing job.
Oh... I'm out of time. Okay, anything you would like to share with us, an excerpt, a tidbit, or anything else about yourself?
J: How about some reviews of my releases to whet your appetite…
For RIP CORD (m/m erotic novella) at Phaze:
From Seriously Reviewed:
"Well, I sat down to read and burned dinner! I couldn’t stop reading. The story is fast. Gil attends his high school reunion. And we all remember how enjoyable that is…not. But with a hot jock like Rip, at least he’ll have someone to stare at during dinner. But wait. This is hot gay erotic romance. So when boy sees hot football star, boy lusts for football star, and holy shit, the football star has game of his own. The sex was raw and brazen, the dialog refreshingly natural and the ending pleasantly simple and satisfying."
For BANGED UP (m/f erotic romance) at Liquid Silver Books:
5 diamonds at Got Erotic Romance!
"Banged Up is an action packed, erotic adventure that will keep you on the edge of your seat until the very last page. The sexual tension starts building as soon as Mace and Colby lay eyes on one another, and their relationship just gets hotter and hotter until their passion explodes. The dialog is fast paced and evocative, leading their relationship along at a fast pace. There’s humor, drama, tragedy, and some really hot sex. This book has something for everyone and will keep you guessing about the ending right up to the last page. I couldn’t put it away and I plan to read it again. I definitely give this book 5 Heats and recommend you read it as soon as possible."
For DOUBLE DARE (m/m/f interracial ménage) at Loose Id:
You Gotta Read Reviews: Rating: “You Need to Read”
“This story was a wonderful read at times it pulls on your heartstrings while at others it lifts the reader up with the love that is shared between all the characters. Quinn is a strong woman who is tired of living a lie. She wants to be her own person, to be able to live and love the one she sees fit. As she struggles to understand her feelings for both Logan and Tyson she begins to loose her inhibitions and her heart. Logan and Tyson are a great pair of Alpha Males both understanding and willing to let the other lead when needed. Both men begin to fall in love with Quinn and are willing to let her into their world. The bond of love and trust that forms between the three is a great read. One only wishes that they had one person to share something like that with let alone two. Jeanne St. James writes a compelling story keeping the reader entertained from start to finish. With it’s great characters and hot scenes this book does not disappoint and should be on many a readers to be read lists."
