The Wolf & The Pretender #NewRelase #ParanormalRomance #Interracial

Book 3

Blurb:

Keva is the mistress of deception. She is the teller of lies. Her adoring fans eat it up coming back for more.

She’s building her empire one block at a time.

Until she feels a tug on her soul from two different males.

One offers to lay the world at her feet, riches, and power. What’s a girl to do when she grew up broke and hungry?

The other offers freedom and maybe the elusive concept of love.

Should she dance while the world burns or try to save it?

Kayden is broken, his mind splintered.

On one mission he defied orders and has been paying ever since.

All he knows are fighting and hunger.

The tug he feels could splinter his mind or piece it together.

His enemy plans to kill him, and he’s not exactly fighting for survival.

Fate screwed them when he met Keva.

Kayden cheated death.

Keva cheated death.

Now death stalks them.

It’s the final act, and someone has to die.

Will they stand together or make one of them the sacrificial lamb?

Will love save them or condemn them?

This book is for those 18 and older

Excerpt:

He turned on the radio letting it cut through any thoughts that would keep him from concentrating. The parking lot to his favorite restaurant was surprisingly full. That couldn’t be good. There were people waiting around the door.

“There’s a thirty-minute wait,” the waitress told him before he could open his mouth.

That wouldn’t do. He was about to walk out when he spotted someone sitting alone toying with her menu like she was unable to decide.

“I’m with the beauty sitting alone. I believe she has been waiting for me.”

The waitress ran her eyes over his tee which showed off his muscles, his arms well defined in the short sleeves. Then her eyes ran over his torso making several trips down to the bulge in his pants.

“Why would you date that? Is it a pity date? Are you checking off your bucket list? Screw a black female? On top of that, she’s fat.”

The waitress cocked her decidedly emaciated hip his way. He hadn’t stopped to look at the female when he picked her out of the crowd, with the waitress’s words he took her in. She had brown skin that he could spend all day looking at. Her curves were the things of legends, his fingers tingled at the thought of being allowed to touch her. That was the type of woman that a male like him didn’t have a chance at.

“You’re right, she is beautiful.”

The waitress wrinkled her nose, picked up a menu and led him to her table.

“Sorry I’m late love.” He bent over, gave her a peck on the cheek and slid into the chair. The waitress tossed his menu on the table.

“Women like you don’t deserve a man, especially not our men,” the waitress hissed before she flounced away.

“Sorry about that, she doesn’t seem to like the pairing of different cultures.”

“Hmm, and why aren’t you with someone of your own culture?” Keva wasn’t sure what to say, but the waitress’s words made sure she wouldn’t send the man away.

“There are very few women of my culture with us. None of those women find me to their liking. Although I am not against same-sex relationships, it is not for me. That leaves me alone.”

“That sounds legit to me. Why are you here?” Her hand moved to indicate the restaurant and her table.

“I’m hungry.”

She threw her head back and laughed. “Hi,” she stuck her hand out. “I’m Keva Hall.”

“Hello Ms. Hall, I’m Kayden Gayl.” He took her hand shaking it.

“Call me Keva please.”

“Likewise, call me Kayden.”

“No nicknames, Kay for short?”

“I prefer Kayden.”

“Then Kayden it is.”

“I thought lunch would be dreary and boring. Already you have brought laughter.” They both studied the menu ordering when their waitress came, thankfully she wasn’t the one that seated Kayden.

If they do, something better than life might be in store for them. Can they find love in the midst of a world that insists that neither should be allowed to live?

18 years or older

Excerpt:

First thing I realized was that there was a dead end about twenty feet in front of me. If I was leaving, it would be the same way I came in. I slowed my step not sure I wanted to get trapped against a wall. The three males who were trailing me became six. I prepared for a fight painfully aware that I wasn’t packing.

Carrying a gun around children I was trying to help never helped with my credibility. I did have a knife strapped to my ankle. The thought about bringing a knife to a gunfight went through my mind. I stopped and moved toward a wall. Knowing no one could come behind me was worth the possibility of being trapped.

“Gentlemen, are you looking for someone?”

The first guy broke off. I supposed he was the second in his little gang. He was the one who wanted to keep impressing the leader.

His eyes caressed my body stopping at my ass. I was wearing a pair of jeans and a Henley. Nothing about me screamed money unless they could tell an expensive haircut from a cheap one. I’ve known some people who could tell me exactly how much I spent on my latest cut. I didn’t think he was one of them. That meant he wasn’t looking for the money in my wallet or my newest phone.

“What’s a sweet thing like you doing in my hood?” The second had a lean body filled with lots of muscle. The nicely shredded tee he wore advertised it while his thick arms said try me. He stood just a little shorter than my six feet. Whatever he was missing in height he made up in a cocky attitude. His tongue came out to lick his lips.

I knew what he wanted. I was no twink, not at my height and weight. I did have that look; I hated it but there was nothing I could do about it. My face looked like I was innocent, I laughed every time I thought about it. My ass was rounder than I liked. Yeah, I attracted every pervert alive and have since I was… no need to think about that.

“Maybe I was looking for you?” He grinned at me. One day, I was going to write a book about the clueless thug. Not to be confused with the thug who thought. I shivered; those were the ones who dominated my nightmares.

“On second thought, you’re not my type. I’m going to walk out of here without any problems.”

The leader who was easy to pick out shook his head.

“My boys need a release. Two blocks over the po-po are roaming, making it hard for businessmen like me to do our thing.”

“I can see how hard that would be for a… businessman like you.”

“Then you walk into my hood tempting my boys. What can I do? Either I let them play a little, or I’ll have to ride roughshod over them. We don’t want that do we?”

Since they were inching closer to me what I wanted was them six feet under. I kept that thought to myself. If I killed one of them, someone was going to call it white privilege. They would conveniently forget the males who wanted to rape me were also white. That was our dirty little secret. The real danger to our people were the ones that looked like me.

“This is how it’s going to work boys. I’m going to walk out this alley or I’m going to take half of you out with me.” I pulled my knife it had an eight-inch blade that was serrated on both sides. The upside, I knew it as well as I knew my body. Truth, I really needed to start carrying a gun.

The leader started laughing. I didn’t really blame him, but I’d make sure he was one of the three I took with me. No one would rape me again. I didn’t care who they were and yeah; I would die to make sure it didn’t happen.

“Take him down.”

“You may want to think about that.” There was a male who I hadn’t heard come into the alley. He was leaning against the wall. His hair was golden. It looked so natural that I wanted to know where he went to get it done. I was disassociating. I bit my cheek. The small pain helping me to stay present.

“Who the hell are you?” That was the leader. I really should know the name of the man I was going to kill.

“Doesn’t matter. The question you should be asking is how many males will be walking out the alley today.”

I looked over at the stranger. The use of the word males made me think of Lysander. Maybe they knew each other. That I could almost believe.

“What’s your name?” I asked the leader. “I hate to kill a man I only know as the inept leader of an inept gang.”

“You can call me John as you deep throat me.”

“That’s how I know you're clueless. I’d never let a man next to my dick when he’d try to bite it off.”

John cracked his knuckles making me wince. He’d regret that one day when he was older, that’s what my mom always told me.

“Boys take care of my piece of ass while I take care of the dick on the wall,” John told his gang.

“Why do you get to be a piece of ass and all I get to be is a dick?” The guy leaning against the wall asked me. I felt my lips twitch with humor, but I controlled it. This was not a laughing situation, I reminded myself.

I looked at his body. “Mine is rounder,” I told him.

His eyes caressed me making my skin flush. Then he winked. “You’re right,” he conceded.

Damn, I didn’t have time to flirt. The first fool threw himself at me thinking he would knock me off balance. Wall behind me. I brought the knife up plunging it deep into his stomach. My stomach tightened as blood poured from him. I’m not supposed to feel it when I take a life. I feel it, even when it’s the life of a piece of scum.

Crave #MMF #ParanormalRomance

Serena Simpson
writing as
Rena Conner
Book One

Blurb:.

Cole was hunting a suspect who not only killed his victims; he ate them. It took an alien to hunt an alien, and he was the right male for the job. He didn’t have time to concentrate on anything else; then Noah was assigned as his partner.

Noah didn’t do partners. The military drilled that into his head with the disloyalty and the dishonorable discharge they gave him. Now he was working a case where the subject was an alien, and so was his partner. The same partner he shouldn’t give the time of day too; since he was straight. There was something about Cole that touched him places he never thought anyone could reach.

Leta knew abuse; she knew how to hide it with a smile. More importantly, she knew recovering from abuse. How a sound or the sight of a figure could make you jump or stop paralyzed with fear. What she didn’t know was love. Her life was hard enough without Cole and Noah insisting on protecting her. They thought her life was in danger; it was a new nightmare. No, the real nightmare was what she was feeling for them.

No one knew what was happening or where the threat would occur; they also didn’t expect the spark of attraction. It couldn’t last because in life it was always two not three. Let the games begin.

Mature audiences only
This book comes with a trigger warning page at the beginning of the book

Excerpt:

My eyes drifted to my watch again two minutes, and my new partner wasn’t here. I hated people who couldn’t be bothered to be on time. If you can’t make a simple appointment how was I supposed to believe you could watch my back? Time ticked away slowly. One minute, sixty seconds for the mysterious Cole to prove he could be trusted.

I felt rather than saw the other male get up cross the patio and stop at my table.

“Noah Kemp.” His voice was deep. It touched a place inside of me that I didn’t know existed.

“Cole, no last name.” His mouth tilted up in a smile and those eyes I had so much trouble focusing on were checking me out. Fuck, I was screwed.

“Have a seat.” The male I had been fascinated by for the last hour was my new partner. How was I supposed to deal with that?

“I don’t need a partner.” I felt my lips lift in a smile since I felt the same way.

“Then we’re on the same page. I’ll take the case. You can take a vacation.” I gave Cole my standard polite smile as I started to stand.

“Sit down pretty boy.”

My hands landed flat on the table as I pressed my body over it and into his face. “I’ve got your pretty and your boy.” It was the hitch in Cole’s breathing that made me want to move backward. No matter, I stood my ground.

“I really don’t do partners.” Cole wasn’t apologizing, but he was giving me enough to sit. Barely enough but I’d take it.

“It’s just one case.” The words I spoke shocked me. I had no plans to comply with Jace until I saw Cole walk towards me. Now I was in the middle of a push and pull. I wanted to push him away and shout to the heavens what I’ve known all my life. I was straighter than straight. I also wanted to pull him to me just to find out if his lips were as soft as they looked. Nothing else, I swear.

“This is a case you can’t do alone. I’m not sure you should even be on it.”

I felt myself tense. He held his hand up, so I waited before I told him what I thought about what he said. He laid his phone on the table and opened it. Screens laid across the table. How had I missed new software like this? He pulled up a file. The clarity of what I saw made me wish his phone didn’t show everything in graphic detail.

“This was one of the last kills we got on film. I saw one recently but didn’t photograph it.”

“Why not?”

“Because I remember everything I see perfectly.”

It must be nice to have a photographic memory. That’s something I don’t have.

“We have a way of showing you what I saw if it’s necessary.”

I nodded, but I doubted what Cole said was true. “Do you have a name and a picture?”

He stared at me for a while. The look seemed to take stock of me. Maybe he was looking for a way to get rid of me or checking to see if I had what it took to go the distance.

“Welcome to the new world order Noah. His name is fuckin’ Naresh.”

I don’t know what I expected, but that wasn’t it. He said the curse and the name with so much venom that I wanted to smile and take cover at the same time. Whoever this Naresh was there was no love lost between him and Cole.

“I have two pictures of him. This is his alias. The one he uses to walk around on earth undetected.”

I raised my eyes to see if Cole was suffering from a seizure, brain damage, or was he just trying to mess with my head? I couldn’t tell so I let my eyes drift downward to study the picture he was showing me. The man came in around six feet. Nice average height for a man. His hair was blonde, the true blonde that could almost be white. He had shocking blue eyes and a mouth that seemed to say, ‘I’m fun.’ I shook myself because he was mesmerizing even in a photo, but still, I felt my skin crawl.

“So, this guy likes to kill and cut up the bodies.” Cole looked at me but didn’t say anything as he changed the picture.

“This is what he looks like outside his disguise.”

The picture I was looking at showed something humanoid shape with black skin. No, not the smooth chocolate of some of the men in my unit. It wasn’t even the fierce black skin of the friend I used to have long ago. There was nothing attractive or human about what I was seeing. This male’s skin looked evil; it reminded me of what I thought a black hole would look like. The knowledge that if you were sucked in, you would never survive. His eyes were an eerily red. No pupils just those red eyes. His teeth were serrated; the color matched the eyes. I was out of here I didn’t have time for this shit.

Is saving another's soul worth risking your own?

Former special forces operator, Ryder, has never backed down from an assignment, and he'll be damned if he lets a blonde-haired, smart-mouthed, pain in the a** destroy that record. She's going to get her life together even if he has to drag her kicking and screaming to do so, and he's not opposed to using a firm hand to yank her from the darkness back into the light.MC born and bred, Kelsea is on a one-way path to rock bottom. Determined to forget the horrible truths revealed about the man who fathered her, she's drowning in a sea of booze, drugs and meaningless hookups. She has no desire to be "saved," especially not by a bossy former Army Ranger with deep green eyes and a sexy southern twang.
Being locked away at his cabin, cut off from the outside world, deeply buried secrets are rising to the surface and lines between them are starting to blur.
The road to redemption is paved with heartache, though, and while Ryder wants to save her from the demons that haunt her, he's not sure it's worth the risk of losing himself or his heart in the process. But, in the end, will Kelsea finally learn to save herself?
Note: Ryder is the second book of the Guts & Glory series, a six-book spin-off from my Dirty Angels MC series. While it's recommended to read both series in order, each book can be read as a stand-alone. As with all my books, this has an HEA, no cliffhanger or cheating.

5-Star ReviewAbsolutely loved this book! Mitch and Paige had me hooked from the very beginning. Whitley is my favorite new writer! I can't get enough of her books! ~Mrs.Taz (Amazon Review)
Her lips were soft, and she tasted like sparkling wine as he swept his tongue inside. A moan rose up from the back of her throat. He deepened the kiss, his hands roaming up her back and into the wild curls on the top of her head. He pulled the hair elastic free and threaded his fingers into the dark, tight waves. His blood began to race south and pool between his legs. Undoubtedly, she could probably feel it against her lower belly.
She pushed her hips against his.
Oh yeah, she felt it.
He also knew he wasn’t ready to take it any further than a kiss.
For one, he didn’t have any condoms on him.
Two, just last week, Paige had wanted nothing to do with him. If he wanted things between them to be real, which he did, they needed to take things slow.
He’d promised himself that they would go at Paige’s speed, and he intended to keep that promise, no matter how much his balls protested otherwise.
And three, he knew he was ready to pursue something with Paige, but he also hadn’t dated in years. How did people do it anymore? How did thirty-somethings date? Did people date? Or was it like his mother said, people just jumped into bed with one another and figured out the rest later? There was no wooing, no courting, no getting to know the person before you stripped down in front of them and showed them all your freckles.
He wanted to woo Paige. He wanted to court her and date her and find out exactly what made her tick. They’d both been through a hell of a lot in the last couple of years, and she deserved respect for all that she’d overcome.
He broke the kiss but held her against him. Both of their chests heaved, and warm puffs of air from her mouth hit his face.
“We’re taking this slow, baby,” he said, pressing his lips to her forehead. “I really like you, and I don’t want to push. Don’t want to rush things.”
He heard her swallow and felt her nod. His fingers were still threaded in her hair, his palm against the back of her head.
“I like you too,” she whispered.
Mitch’s heart skipped a beat, and his smile hurt his face. He pulled her away just enough so he could look into her eyes. “Well, that’s just about the best news I’ve heard all day. Possibly all year.”
She worried her plump bottom lip between her teeth. “I’m okay taking it slow … but … ”
He lifted his eyebrows. “Hmm?”
“Can we do that again? I forgot how much I love just kissing.”
Mitch groaned, and his cock lurched against her thigh in protest. “Baby, we can kiss all night if you want to.” Then he dipped his head and took her mouth again, reveling in her little moans and whimpers as she fit perfectly into his arms.
As if she were meant to be there all along.

A Canadian West Coast baby born and raised, Whitley is married to her high school sweetheart, and together they have two beautiful daughters and a fluffy dog. She spends her days making food that gets thrown on the floor, vacuuming Cheerios out from under the couch and making sure that the dog food doesn't end up in the air conditioner. But when nap time comes, and it's not quite wine o'clock, Whitley sits down, avoids the pile of laundry on the couch, and writes.
A lover of all things decadent; wine, cheese, chocolate and spicy erotic romance, Whitley brings the humorous side of sex, the ridiculous side of relationships and the suspense of everyday life into her stories. With single dads, firefighters, Navy SEALs, mommy wars, body issues, threesomes, bondage and role-playing, these books have everything we need to satisfy the curious kink in all of us.
