Series: Between Heaven and Hell

Nova died, again. The more it happened, the worse it felt and fighting her way out of hell was not fun. She woke to find herself lying on a cold metal table. She knew it was cold and metal because once again she didn’t have any clothes on.
What was it with the medical examiners of the morgue and her clothes? At least this time she didn’t wake up in a body bag. Fighting her way out of those made her cranky.
Her eyes flew open when she heard the whirling of the bone saw. Yep, typical morgue. Cold, unfriendly to both the dead and the living. There was a huge light shining over her so that everyone could look at her naked ass in glorious detail. This was not turning out to be her best day. With a turn of her head, she looked at the human walking towards her. There were coolers for dead bodies lined up behind him. His saw kept whirling away while he hummed to himself.
Getting cut up hurt like hell. It happened to her once. She woke up in the morgue the human’s hands shook before he jumped and lost control of his instrument cutting into her head; she died. Thanks, human. She had to fight her way through hell a second time when her energy was already coasting on zero and then wake up once more as he blabbered to his supervisor about killing her because he thought she was already dead. Yeah, she wouldn’t allow that to happen again if she had any say in the matter.
Her body rolled off the table; the human screamed and lost control of his bone cutter. Without thought, she did the heroic thing. Jumping up to knock the saw out of his hands to keep him from becoming a patient on his own table. Standing over the man, she tried to stop him from blubbering, nothing she said helped. Did he?
She sniffed and looked down at the floor. Yep. The man pissed himself. Shaking her head, she stepped around him missing his mess. That’s what she got for trying to be helpful. There was a soft spot in her heart for humans because she used to be one. Some days she even got flashes of her human life. There was a time before hell that she used to be happy. Well, now she was just getting maudlin.
Grabbing a lab coat hanging by the door, she put it on covering her assets. With one last look at the crying male assuring herself, he’d be all right. She walked out the door and out of his life for good.
Now the question was should she go home, shower and change clothes, or find the ass hole who killed her? Like that was a real question. She hot-wired a car. It was a beauty.  A BMW some series they should have stopped making long ago, but in this world, no one cared. She hoped it belonged to the man with the bone saw.
It didn’t take long to get to her destination. Midnight had come and gone making it closer to three am if she had to guess. The bars were closed, which meant most people were home with their families in bed where they belonged. Not the idiot she was after. He would have crashed one of those illegal joints. The ones the cops say didn’t exist, but she knew better.
That’s where he’d be, drinking, dancing and knowing him, he’d have his hand in some woman’s hair making her swallow his dick even though she begged him not to. Any woman seeing him would plead for him to leave her alone. She was about to make that female’s night. Let’s see how well Hay’s did when she sent him to hell. With a bit of luck, he wouldn’t be coming back.
Hay’s was your run-of-the-mill demon. Not anything to talk about, but he was nasty.
She parked her car in the warehouse district. This place looked creepy at night, and even in the daylight, a haze of darkness hovered over it. The city had plans to tear it down. Heck, she’d seen the plans. This place had been scheduled to be destroyed years ago, but it was still standing because whoever they sent in to get the job done left in a body bag. The whole city pretended this cesspool didn’t exist, while she thrived in it.
She looked down at the examiner's lab coat while not the usual attire she rocked, nothing could be done about it now. She walked toward the back of one warehouse that was covered in black with red dripping down the sides. The police told the citizens it was paint. She knew better; it was blood.
Instead of going to the main door she entered from the side. Someone she knew was about to call out to her before she signaled them to be quiet. There was no way she was giving Hay’s a heads up. That demon would run. He only killed her because he got the drop on her. That won’t be happening twice.
The club was dark enough that it assured most humans would stay away. She could see in the dark. Most days she wished she couldn’t see when she walked in. There were two women chained to the wall being beaten by a guy with horns. It was hard for her to tell if they volunteered for the beating or not.
There was another in the corner taking it up the rear from a demon who looked more like a dog. From her screams of help, it might be safe to assume she didn’t volunteer. She turned her head from the scene that had lots of onlookers and kept moving towards where she suspected Hay’s of being.
No one who came into this hell hole was innocent. Every woman who crossed the threshold knew if a demon took a liking to you, and he was stronger than you were, you’d end up being his bitch for the night. So, no she might not have wanted the demon dog's dick up her ass, but she knew it was a possibility when she came in, and still, she came in. Tomorrow she will tell her friends how she took it like a pro, but tonight she’d beg for a savior. She was out of luck those stayed far away from the club.
“Swallow me bitch!” Hay’s voice rumbled out letting her know she was in the right place.
“Whatever happened to please and thank you? Last time I looked at my phone, it said there was an app for that. It’s called respect. Not that I expect a demon to know about respect.” Nova gave him a kill me now smile.
Hay’s wasn’t much to look at in the demon category; he didn’t even top five nine. His body was rangy. The only thing worth noting on the demon was the fourteen inches hanging between his legs, and she didn’t judge because some women liked it big.
He grabbed the woman up by her hair and placed her in front of him. Now it was movements like that which made his fourteen inches not worth thinking about. Who wanted a demon with a big dick if he didn’t have the balls to back it up?
“I’m sending you straight to hell Hay’s. I'd rather not do it the hard way.”
“Why aren’t you still dead?”
“I missed you.” She sent a kiss his way watching him hiss as he tried to get out of its way.
Yeah, she wasn’t a demon, but she came equipped with nasty little surprises like the kiss of death which she could throw. Unfortunately, it also made her weak, so she didn’t use it often, but couldn’t resist this time. It hit him in the shoulder making his arm unresponsive. The woman caught in his grasp was no dummy she pulled away and ran before he brought his other hand up.
“So, it’s just you and me, Hay’s. What should we do? Get a drink or send you back to hell?”
“I will kill—”
She threw a blade at him cutting him in half. That was another neat trick she came equipped with weapons that traveled with her wherever she went. Handy when she needed to fight her way out of hell.
He fell to the ground with his body dissolving into little red dust particles. “Tell Marcus I said hi.”
Sure, she could have waited around for him to finish his death speech, but if you’ve heard one, you’ve heard them all. Besides, she was still just wearing the ME’s lab coat, and there was a draft in here.
“Damn I’d like to see you on all fours with my dick up your ass.”
It amazed her how stupid demons were. Well, at least he wasn’t bad looking maybe she could forgive stupid. He stood close to six five, so he was taller than her. His body was bulky with muscle like he worked out. Demons didn’t work out; they didn’t have too. Either they had it, or they didn’t. He charmed his eyes to appear sea green and his skin to seem like it was sun-kissed from hours playing on the beach.
As far as demons went this one wasn’t bad looking. He almost tempted her to take a pic with him and send it to her friend. The caption would read see what I found biatch. She did so like making her friend jealous. Tonight, she wasn’t in the mood.
“In case you missed it let me do a recap for you. Hay’s ambushed me, killing me a few hours ago and sent me to hell where I had to kick, claw and fight my way out. I came here to return the favor, and I’m still strong enough to send you back. Now you're cute, which is why you’re still standing, but if you put your hands on me or bring that massive dick anywhere close to my rosette. I will send you on an all expense vacation back to hell. Something tells me it will take you more than a couple of hours to fight your way out.”
The demon raised his hands and took measured steps backward.
“You can’t blame me for trying. You are kick ass.”
She smiled at him; it was always nice to have her attributes noticed. She waited until he disappeared into the crowd before she headed for the door. Every demon there and the women made a path for her. No one wanted the tour of hell she was offering to provide them with tonight.
The woman getting it from the dog demon was no longer begging for freedom. Now her head thrashed in an orgasm that almost made her jealous. Almost.
She slipped out the side door climbed into her stolen car and made her way home.

*~*~*~*

Ari waited until the door closed behind the slayer before he stepped out of the shadows. He walked up to the demon and handed him ten thousand-dollar bills. Any demon in his right mind knew not to approach a slayer after a kill. This demon was motivated by the beautiful green that would soon be his.
Turning his attention away from the demon who was now buying drinks for his friends, he studied the closed door. He heard the slayer had a heart, and he needed to find out. Any slayer with a heart was one that could permanently die. It seems he’d found his woman.
