It's Groundhog Day

Groundhog
Did you see your shadow this morning when you rose from bed? No? Let's hope the local groundhog didn't either or it'll be six more weeks of winter. Brrr... I shiver just thinking about it.

The lovely little beastie on the left has a body perfectly made for digging in the dirt and burrowing. On Feb 2nd each year, when the local groundhog at the zoo pops out of his/her burrow, the world waits to see whether the groundhog notices its shadow. If it does - six weeks of winter; if not, an early spring.
Cat

Personally, I'd rather put my faith in a cat. They don't much care whether it's raining or shining, so long as they get their three squares, a few snacks, a scratch behind the ear, and a long undisturbed nap. Ah, that's the life. In fact, there's not much better!

Here are a few more animal-related holidays to enjoy this year. I'd like to know how to celebrate the respect-a-chicken month though. Any ideas?

Wow, I adore my critters, but all that seems really silly... the month things.

Any groundhog here is likely buried beneath the snow... hope they're all okay!
