Series Landscape

I’m in my organization mode and revisiting my series landscape. Since I was offline dealing with some things I’m now playing catch up. Getting back into my writing schedule. Working on my writing calendar. Yeah I have one. I’m an organization freak. LOL. The good thing about having a writing schedule is that I have an idea of what I will be writing next. I also have my schedule set so it leaves flexibility for me to change and shift things around. This helps keep me on track and set long term writing career goals.

The schedule helps me a lot with my writing and planning out my various series. I love writing series because I get to get deep into the worlds, see previous characters and develop more. It is fun and of course time consuming. You must make sure that you keep the thread of the series accurate to your previous books and so on. LOL. But I love it. It’s like a puzzle that keeps getting more pieces that fit together to create a beautiful image.

On the Satin Notes the free reads site that Aliyah Burke, McKenna Jeffries and I co-write stories for we are building two towns with lots of people, place and so on. Bringing you into their lives and world. It is fun to do and I can’t wait to see what comes next. I’ve also written a few stories that are set in both Trescott Cove and Savoy Valley that has been released by various publishers and have some more that I am working on that I will be sending out once complete.

With each of my series I build a landscape and keep building it. I love creating worlds. I have something that I am working on for my chat group Crenshaw CafĂ© which will be exclusive to the group. Shhh… I haven’t announced it yet.

I love revisiting my series and writing the next book. Or creating a new world to play in. It’s like opening a candy jar and finding my favorite candies. I guess that is why I tend to like to read series too. To get into the world and so on. I’m off to continue working on my series landscape. What are some of your fav series and why?

Magic and Mayhem, Interview with Jacquelie Paige

A: Today I’m talking to Jacqueline Paige. A mother of five, paranormal and suspense author and budding herbalist, she’s someone I might just call crazy!

Knowing you have kids, it’s probably a little hard to get too kinky (although you might have some interesting stories about how your children came to be ;>) But when you’ve had time, what’s the kinkiest, sexiest thing you’ve ever done:

JP: Me personally or my characters? My characters definitely have more fun than I have – okay, not really, but my older children might read this so I have to pretend to be old and boring…

A: How bad do you get with your writing, are we talking just suggestion or down right bondage?

JP: That would depend on which publisher the book is for and the theme of the book. My novellas tend to go into much more detail than the full length stories.

A: I see I’m going to have to track down a copy of one of your books to get the answers… hehehe… I love to read. I especially love it when good plot, character development and writing all come together for memorable reads. Part of that are quotables…

Do you have a most quotable line or one that you just can’t believe you wrote?

JP: My own opinion is my story Salvation is the best I’ve written. I like ALL of my stories, but this one challenged me. To have someone from over 200 years ago see things that we look at every day, without giving them a second thought, was quite interesting to put into words.

“She clicked the small rodent object and hit the letter board with fingers moving faster than he could read….”

“She had walked back over to the bed and was putting tiny drops with wires attached to them in her ears. He’d noticed most children of her age walked around with wires coming from their ears…”

A: So you like older men… LOL (200 is old!) If you could have any movie star take on a role as one of your heroes, who would it be?

JP: Gerard Butler – he’s my Colin in Twice Cursed.

A: Aha.. I’ve seen that one before. It begs the questions…rough and tumble or sophisticated—who do romance readers like better? I think I know the answer… Of course, size counts to a lot of girls too :>… on average how loooooonnnnnggg do you like your (um, how do we put it delicately) manuscripts to be ;> ( in words silly, not inches) and how steamy?

JP: I actually prefer the story to be 50,000 words or longer – I had a very difficult time writing the novella’s and staying under the allotted word count. For me longer is better…

A: What are the hardest scenes to write for you?

JP: As silly as it sounds, the first kiss is the hardest for me to write. Once I can get beyond that, the characters seem to take over and lead me in the direction they need to go – just making that first kiss perfect.

A: I love those first kisses… the sweet ones… the hard and aching ones… the fast and furious, I’m-about-to –claw-my-way-into-you-and-you’re-going-to-like-it kisses… Ahem… I just like kisses :>

The fantasies we writerly types have. Back to reality. How close have you gotten to one of your fantasies?

JP: Fantasy? I’m not sure which type of fantasy we’re talking about. If it’s the one where I never have to wash another dish in my life – I don’t think I’ll ever get close to that one! As for other fantasies, I suppose I’d write non-fiction if I’d achieved every single one of them.

A: What would you want other writers and your readers to know about you?

JP: I am a busy person. I’m a mom and work 60-70 hours a week in addition to writing – so please don’t ever feel I’ve ignored a comment or email, I just have to find a few free minutes of silence from time to time to stop and respond. I love hearing from people!!

Other than that I’m extremely sarcastic, quite like many of my characters.

A: And finally… anything you would like to share with us, an excerpt, a tidbit, or anything else about yourself?

JP: This is one of my favorite scenes from Book II in the Magic Seasons series – Solstice Heat.

Chris came out of his library to see the three men sitting in his living room. He paused and

looked around. “Did I forget about a meeting?” Where were the women? “Where is

everyone else?”

Dade leaned forward and rested his elbows on his legs. “We were instructed they were

coming here after work, and they have been locked in your little magic broom closet for the

last hour.”

Chris raised his eyebrows. “Doing?”

Owen lifted his hands. “Won’t say.”

Steven slumped down on the couch. “They’re not too pleased being driven to and from

work.”

“I see.” Chris turned and started down the hall. “Lets see what they’re up to.”

The men got up and followed him.

He tried the doorknob to find it locked. “Kase, unlock the door.”

“Soon,” she called to him through the door.

He stood there glaring at the door. They’d locked him out of his own room in his own

home! We’ll see about this. He stepped back and slapped an invisible command at the door.

Sparks flew off it, and the door remained closed. “What the . . .”

Dade grinned. “Quite the little witch you have there, Larkin.”

Steven whistled out a breath. “Just how much trouble can they get into with all your stuff in

there?”

Chris still scowled at the door while he answered. “A lot!” He tapped the door with his

hand. “Kassandra, unlock the door.”

A gentle breeze blew over all four of them.

“That would be a polite no,” Dade said quietly.

“Like hell I’ll be locked out of my own temple room.” Chris hissed. Stepping back, he stared

at the door. The handle shook. When he thought it was going to open, it started to pour rain

on the four of them. He waved a hand to stop it and looked at the men beside him. Dade’s

long hair was soaked, and the expression on his face was similar to how he himself was

feeling about the whole thing.

“And that would be a mind your own damn business,” Owen said, sticking his hands in his

pockets.

Chris looked at Steven. “You have any ideas?”

Steven shook his head trying to get the water to stop dripping in his face, then took a step

away from the door. “Oh no. I’m plenty happy enough to wait until it opens on its own.

You might like lightning striking you, but I’m not too open to trying that.”

Chris shook his head. “Are you all afraid of them?”

Dade nodded. “I’ve seen what each one can do alone—especially your little innocent there,

my friend. The four of them together scare the hell out of me.”

Chris sighed and looked back at the door. “Kasey?”

“Yes, Christopher?” Her voice came through the door again.

“You’re making me angry, and I don’t want to do something I’ve promised you I wouldn’t.”

A gentle breeze ruffled his hair. “I know you won’t, Chris. Now go away. I’m trying to

concentrate here.”

His jaw dropped. Sighing, he looked at the others. “Beer?” They nodded and followed him

down the hallway.

“Seems you’re a bit afraid of their wrath too, counselor,” Dade mumbled behind him.

“Shut up,” Chris growled and walked into the kitchen.

A: Sounds like the woman have their men well under control in your book—good to see :>

Pitching In The Big Leagues

Thank you so much to the Bad Behavers for having me!

Few things are more intimidating for a beginning romance author than “pitching” a story idea in-person to an editor. Earlier this month I had the privilege of actually doing it, and I’d like to share a couple of thoughts.

1.) It’s NOT final exam time! You should know your story by heart and be able to describe the basic conflict, setting, and characters in a minute or less. But don’t worry – editors are not going to nitpick unless you’ve been totally incoherent. I was amazed when I finished my pitch in one minute, the editor said, “that sounds fun” and asked for a synopsis and a partial! This was one minute in, and I still had nine minutes to go. A very valuable lesson! Therefore . . .

2.) Be ready for a real conversation! It’s not likely the editor will spend ten minutes asking follow ups on your one minute summary. Therefore YOU should be ready to ask the editor intelligent, meaningful questions. “What are you looking for?” is the basic idea. No matter how good your story is today, you might be able to write a better one next year – try to find out what THIS editor likes, needs, is eager to see!

3.) Remember that YOU have written a great story!

FLIRTY FRIDAY ~ I bat my eyelashes flirtatiously.

Pic ~ Wolf on Guitar ~ Pyrograph by Dumitru Muradian

I bat my eyelashes flirtatiously. Something I don’t ever recall doing before. But, hawt damn! He is tall. His swashbuckling mane is dark golden from what I can see in the dim bluish illumination of the upscale bar. And, he’s wearing some seriously sexy leather.

As he waits for his drink, he’s turned toward me. His gaze appears to ravish me from on high (I did say he was tall). However, I’m not fooled. He’s the lead guitarist of the band performing tonight and part of his job is to make women drool and fantasize about being with him.

Oh yeah, earlier, as I sat and sipped on my strawberry daiquiri, I noticed all the ladies vying for his attention. They looked like a gaggle of over-eager vixens...though, it could be argued that over-eager is a redundant description. In this instance, I don’t think so.

For gawd’s sake, I could hear the singsong cooing. From the corner of my eye I could see the choose-me posturing of all the young things clad in tight, tight clubwear when they surrounded him during the band’s last break. Yep, with their hips thrust and their shoulders swaying, they each hung on his every word.

I smile, answering his smile, a mere upturn of his mouth. Did I mention he has ultra-tempting lips? Worse, I ignore my drink, and angle toward him. Doing my own posturing, I rest my elbow on the bar, then tilt my head and lean it against my palm. No, the smile hasn’t left my face.

“I have a feeling, beautiful woman, you like wolves.” His speaking voice is as sinfully sexy as his singing voice. Gee, yeah, big surprise. I certainly feel my hormones singing loudly.

“Wolves?” I arch my brow. “Wolf as in sheep’s clothing, Nope, that can’t be it. No sheepskin anywhere...at least, not that I can see.”

“But, I am in disguise.” His sensual drawl is both invitation and challenge.

“Are you?” I ask. “Hmmm...maybe, it’s the obvious. You’re the big bad wolf disguised as a musician and I’m about to be dinner.” Dinner...how about dining on me? The thought hits me before I know it. I almost blush.

“Dinner,” he growls, a low intimate sound. He faces me fully and his virility smacks me between the eyes. “First, may I buy you another drink?” He pauses half a beat. “I want you to stay.”

Before I can think, I blurt out, “Yes.”

Well, what the hell, why not? It’s not like I have any real chance with him. If he wants sex, the infamous one night stand, he has a whole bevy of panting female worshipers to choose from.

As if it’s difficult, he looks away from me to claim his drink. “Another one for the lady. On my tab.”

“Thanks,” I murmur, once he gazes at me. His eyes are dark, intense, and glow in a way I’ve never witnessed.

He salutes me with his drink, his manner casual, yet debonair. Not taking a swallow of the dark liquor, he holds his glass like a talisman that stops him from coming closer to me. “I want to be your big bad wolf.”

I chill madly. An instant later, my body over-heats feeling like a furnace. Wow, I must be ga-ga, goo-goo over him. Annoyed at myself, I find my I’m-in-control voice. “Devouring included, I assume.”

“I promise howls of pleasure.” Slow and easy, he takes a swallow of his drink. Slow and easy and primal, his gaze sweeps down my body. I swear it feels like his lips are brushing over every inch my skin.

About to melt into a take-me puddle at his feet, I rise up and reach for my drink. Hastily, I take a large sip of the icy concoction. “Howls?” I manage, then think fast. “Then you’re a wolf as in being a womanizer.”

His gaze glints while he raises his drink. He smiles seductively, then throws back a large swallow. Lowering his mostly empty glass, he locks his gaze with mine. The power of it stuns me. “I am a wolf.”

I hesitate at the sheer force of his words. “Your totem animal? Are you into shamanism?”

In the background I hear his band warming up. I’m surprised since I’ve lost awareness of everything and everyone, but him.

“Shamanism,” he repeats, his tone shuddering me inside. Faster than I can blink, he’s leaned close to my ear. “No. I’m not into shamanism.” His breath possesses my neck exciting me wickedly. I close my eyes. “I am into you, beautiful woman.” His potent raw-hot scent envelops me as he nuzzles beneath my ear. “Later, my little red riding hood,” he softly growls.

Did he just nip my earlobe?

Thirteen sexiest lines . . .
In a 2007 poll, guess what? The top ten sexiest lines from movies all came from James Bond films.

At the end of the top ten you'll find three more lines -- not from movies, but from a recent poll taken by men. These are the top three things men would like women to whisper in their ear.
HUH?

Let 'em roll:

1. "I think he's attempting re-entry." - Moonraker (1979)

2. "I thought Christmas comes just once a year." Bond to Dr. Christmas Jones in
The World Is Not Enough (1999)

3. "Just keeping the British end up." - Bond to Sir Frederick Gray in The Spy
Who Loved Me (1977)

4. "I'm afraid you've caught me with more than my hands up." - Bond to a gunman
in Diamonds Are Forever (1971)

5. "You appear tense... that's too bad. Going down, one should always be
relaxed." Bond to 007 girl Fatima in Never Say Never Again (1983)

6. "When one is in Egypt, one should delve deeply into it's treasures." - Bond
in The Spy Who Loved Me (1979)

7. "It's just the right size - for me, that is." - Bond talking about 007 girl
Tatiana's mouth in From Russia With Love (1963)

8. "The bubbles tickle my... Tchaikovsky." - Bond girl Pola in A View To A Kill
(1985)

9. "Something big's come up." - Bond to 007 girl Jill Masterson in Goldfinger (1964)

10. "I think I will enjoy serving you very much." Bond girl Aki to 007 in You
Only Live Twice (1967)

Drum roll please . . . Here are the three most "popular lines" your man would like you to whisper in his ear.

11)  “I would feel so safe lying beneath you.”

12)  “I’m feeling dirty. I think I’ll take a shower.”

13) “Do you want to bring your beer with you in case you lose any fluids?”

You gotta love number 13, ladies, right?

(Oh, this picture goes with the sexy line number 13.)

Does Coffee Help Your Sex Life?

How good is caffeine for your sex life? Do you dally over a last cup with your lover, sipping, casting loving glances over the top of the cup? Do you find the flavor on your lover's tongue is exotic? Erotic? Or if you're not a coffee drinker, does it taste bitter?

Even non-coffee drinkers seem to enjoy the smell of freshly brewed coffee. I drink decaf to reduce stress and to keep my blood pressure healthy. If I walk into a coffee shop I'm instantly salivating over the rich smell of the real thing.

But seriously, does it affect sex? A small amount can have a positive affect, according to Dr. N.K. Lin at HerbalLove. "A low dose of caffeine helps turn on the brain's dopamine system to power erection and orgasm..." He goes on to say, "...but too much caffeine for a long period of time will drive the sympathetic nervous function to overpower the parasympathetic nervous function responsible for erection and lasting longer. It helps the brain convert too much dopamine into epinephrine (adrenalin, the stress hormone for a "fight or flight" action)." This can result in muscle pain, stress, tension, and physical strain on the heart.

Before having sex, perhaps it's better to have an herbal tea without caffeine. There are many flavors to choose, and according to Dr. Lin, one with ginseng adds energy without the side effects of caffeine.

After sex, should you need a way to relax even more, I recommend Sleepy Time Tea(r) by Celestial Seasonings. A small warning, however. I put mine in a plastic container, and a few weeks later made a pot of tea, added ice, and sipped it throughout the day. I kept nodding off in front of the computer, then fell asleep watching a TV show later, and only woke when hubby shook my shoulder and spoke to me. By then it was 11pm and I'd missed most of the day. The next morning, I was about to have another glass when hubby joined me. He took one sip and started laughing. When he pointed out that this was my favorite night time tea, I realized why I'd dozed through the entire previous day! Be sure to label it if you put an herbal tea into another container.

What we eat and drink can definitely affect us, and it's not just coffee. There must be other ways to relax in the evening, or before an afternoon quickie.  I'm swearing off coffee for sure! Any suggestions you'd care to offer?

New Release Today

Good Morning! Today is the day that Position Secured is released to the masses from Samhain Publishing. It's my first short story, and it's a whole lot of naughty interracial fun! Have you ever taken advantage of a nice quiet evening alone, and wondered how you'd react if something interrupted you? Maybe it's just me, and maybe I've seen to much television, but I always think about if a fire broke out, and I had to run into the street to save my life. See that naked guy escaping a fire? That would totally be me, and I'd be on the internet within hours. So my bathrobe is always handy. Obsess much?

One day last year I was chatting with a couple of other romance authors, and one of them announced that there was a group of cops outside her window. My imagination went wild. I wanted to know everything. And then, of course, my naughty side started working out a scenario that would be erotic. The result was Position Secured. A story about a woman interrupted, and the cop who wants to change her mind about the boys in blue. Sound interesting? How about an excerpt?

“You might want to leave the room, ma’am.” The cop spoke in the same voice he’d used to communicate with his team, so she wasn’t completely sure he was talking to her until he continued. “Just stay away from the windows.”
“I…okay…”
“Echo three, affirmative. Position secured.”
Mari backed against the hallway wall. She still had a good view of him through the door. Long moments passed. Mari’s breathing echoed in the hallway, and her heart thumped a heavy cadence. The megaphone below blared, but the sniper in her bedroom hadn’t moved one sinewy muscle. She wasn’t sure if he’d even blinked.
Damn, the man was one giant hunk of sex. His face had that rugged masculinity that she found extremely appealing. He wasn’t one to cover a men’s fashion magazine. Nor would he fit the part as a boy band front man. This guy looked like he’d been in a few fistfights in his time. He had an imperfect shape to his nose, and the stern set to his lips made him look fearsome and deliciously sexy, which was odd, because she didn’t even prefer white guys. Or cops. There must be something seriously wrong with her if there was a bad deal going down in her backyard—bad enough to call in a sniper—and she could think only of the man’s sex appeal.
Her hand was still clutching her robe to her breasts. The rapid rise and fall of her curves moved the satin across her nipples. A glance at her bed and Mari almost groaned. Atop the pillows stacked in the middle of the mattress lay Bob, pretty and pink as could be. She could almost see the indentation of her body in the rumpled sheets. She should be embarrassed. She should run into the room and hide the evidence, but instead her loins reacted in an entirely unexpected way. There was a hot as hell cop in her bedroom. Kneeling by her bed. With a gun. And testosterone oozing out of every pore, not two feet from where her sheets still held her body heat.
Marcus still didn’t flinch. He was completely focused on his job. In an uncharacteristic and severely reckless move, Mari slipped her hand between the folds of her robe and stroked herself. Damn, she was even wetter now than she’d been before she was interrupted.
She let go of the lapels of her robe and cupped her breast with her free hand. She imagined this cop in her bed. He would look into her eyes, his fingers would play with her clit. Stroke her just like this. Oh, God, yes.
He’d kiss her nose. That ruggedly sexy face would soften. Desire would make his eyes look glassy. He wouldn’t even notice her extra layer of fluff. He would kiss her everywhere. He’d touch every inch of her skin and treat her as if she were as beautiful as a supermodel. “Do you like this?” he’d say.
“Mmm.” Mari almost moaned aloud in answer. Then he’d kiss her. Hard. With those sexy, no nonsense lips. He’d shove two thick fingers inside her just like his tongue was ravaging her mouth. Then he’d pull back to kiss her jaw, and say…
“Echo three, affirmative.” His voice almost broke her out of her fantasy, but he hadn’t moved. It was still safe.

I have more information at my website, and it's available for purchase at My Bookstores and More, Amazon.com, and Books On Board.

Now tell me, have you ever been interrupted?

Unexpected, Fun, and Sensual-- Mary Quast!!!!

A: Today’s interview is with the incredible Mary Quast – one of the founders of Romance Writers Behaving Badly. I’m so glad to have her here today to talk about her writing and her books.

Known for writing sensual romance with creative soul, I’ve known Mary for a few years now through Romance Divas. Welcome Mary!!!!

There are so many things I want to ask… how’d that conversation with the pastor turn out??? Just how much do you make those old biddies in your community blush??? And so much more; but let’s start with the basics :>

What’s the kinkiest, sexiest thing you’ve ever done:

MQ: Let’s see…. Chocolate syrup, whipping cream, silk scarves and a blindfold…I think you have to buy the book to find out more. But I can add that it’s wonderful making love in a hammock in the middle of the day!

A: I’m envisioning humid air, a southern back porch looking over a sleepy creek, and loonng summer days. Sigh. Having been on a hammock, I imagine things were “hopping”. :> So while you were a bit cryptic in your response to kinkiness in real life (I mean … wow… you left a lot to the imagination there)… How bad do you get with your writing, are we talking just suggestion or down right bondage?

MQ: It depends on my characters. Sometimes a bad boy simply wants to feel loved while the good girl wants to be ravished. I haven’t put bondage in my work… yet.

A: Heck, you don’t need bondage – you have chocolate and whip cream and… oh, that’s real life. We’re talking fiction. Just for a bit of non sequitor What’s the best thing you’ve ever written—the best line?

MQ: I’d have to say, “Lonely Soul” is my best work from a technical point so far. The best line? Hmm….Painted Soul is full of sensual lines but I favor sexy and funny. So that would have to come from Matt Keller, he has a “special way” of wording things, they’re called “Mattisms”.

For example: “Nothing much,” he munched on his burger. “Just grudge fucked my ex-girlfriend’s best friend. I feel much better; I suggest you try it sometime. Hey, are you going to eat that pickle?”

A: LOL… I love that. Best line so far in the interviews. I especially loves the “Hey, are you going to eat that pickle?” as if there’s nothing much he just said. I wish there were more people that were that glib in the world. Instead we’re stuck with people using snappy comebacks from best-selling books, block-buster movies, and Robot Chicken.

If you could have any movie star take on a role as one of your heroes, who would it be?

MQ: Stuart Townsend… the way he looked in Queen of the Damned, would be Puzzola.

A: Man, all the authors have some unique tastes. I need to expand my repertoire. I’m stuck on Dong Bang Shin Ki ---Junsu, Changminnie, JaeJoong, Yunho, Yoochun. Sigh… But alas, no one I know shares my compulsions. Although Changminnie is now almost 6’4…. He’s got huge hands and feet… makes you wonder… Ahem… So what do you think? Does size count? Size counts… on average how loooooonnnnnggg do you like your (um, how do we put it delicately) manuscripts to be ;> ( in words silly, not inches) and how steamy?

MQ: I can’t seem to write anything short so they end up being around 300 pp in print. Steamy? I want readers to feel the need to strip down and fan themselves from the heat.

A: Well, I’m still stuck on that porch overlooking some South Carolina tributary with a sexy Hugh Jackman. Sigh. Mind back on track April !!!!

Thinking of hot, sexy porch hammocks and the fact that some people think sex scenes are the hardest -- the more I write them, the more I would agree. It’s just so hard to come up with something new and unique every time.

What are the hardest scenes to write for you?

MQ: Ah… the first page. Really! I love writing the sex scenes – if I get stuck I pull out a Penthouse Letters and ask hubby to help out. LOL. I have an evil streak in me and it shows when I “hurt” my characters. But that first page kills me every time!

A: And you say you’re not into bondage!!!! You must get enough satisfaction out of your own form of torture. Just how much hotter than that porch hammock do you get? Or maybe I should ask: How close in real life have you gotten to one of your fantasies?

MQ: Heh, heh. Do I have to answer that? I’m an artist and a romance writer. Any more questions?

A: You leave that wide open to the imagination. Ugh…. Details woman!

No? Okay. We’ll keep those questions for another time.

What would you want other writers and your readers to know about you?

MQ: Don’t bug me on a bad day, I might have to put you in a book and kill you. But if you feed me chocolate, you’re forgiven.

A: Hmmm… should I keep the chocolate to myself or avoid death on the page? That’s a tough decision. I really like my chocolate. ;> Before I start on my long list of other questions that aren’t writing related… anything you would like to share with us, an excerpt, a tidbit, or anything else about yourself?

MQ: My first book, “Painted Soul” was based on a journal entry I wrote while I was in England at the age of 16. I saw a real punk on the subway and created a story about him. Years later, I created Painted Soul and the character Puzzola from that experience. From that one book, came a series of four.

A: Wow… thank you Mary for such a great interview. Anyone else want to read more about Mary or check out Painted Soul, Tormented Soul or Lonely Soul, check out her website at: http://www.maryquast.com/

I also just HAD to add the picture here from Mary's sight. Now, that's HOT and ever so naughty

Thursday Thirteen- 13 Text message pointers for lovers

Sexual escapades have expanded with the evolution of text messaging. Whether it's your boyfriend, girlfriend, a lover or spouse...the progression of text messaging has opened (bedroom) doors, and sexual escapades, where we never thought they'd be. As an adult, I've learned that 'sexting' with the one you love can be a magical thing.

Simple little words or sayings through a cell phone has opened my eyes to a world I never knew existed.

1.
Don't you love waking up to a new text every day saying "Good Morning" or settling into bed only to recieve a text that says "sweet dreams".

2. Seductive pictures (or videos) sent to the one you love can add excitement to any relationship at any level.

Below are a few texts I've recieved in the last year that have literally (every pun intended), got my juices flowing.

3. The little secret words like ending your "I love you" text with "big kisses and little nibbles".

4. Anytime you see the word, honey, hon, babe, baby....pet names give me chills and make me smirk.

5. Send a text just because you're thinking about that someone. "Thinking about you" or "Missing you" - can make someone's day.

6. Tell your lover what you want to do- "I want to strip your clothes off tonight". The sexual anticipation can build over the hours apart.

7. Being a writer by nature- start sending little excerpts of a past sexual experience you shared with your love. Start it with "I remember when..." and end it with a hint of a repeat.

8. Not every picture needs to be a sexual pose or contain nudity- I once sent a picture of my long, painted fingernail (used frequently during...well, you get the idea) and so did he. Send pictures of places you've been together and enjoyed- maybe a restaurants' sign, a movie theatre entrance.

9. Talk dirty- some people have a problem sharing fantasies face to face so use technology to your sexual release advantage. Let your hair down, get wild and get horny.

10. Heighten the experience- send a 'special' text when you know your partner is in a meeting. Everyone around him or her will sense his or her change in behavior- this makes your partner feel naughty and can intensify your reunion later that day.

11. Send song lyrics with special meaning to the two of you. I once sent a lyric from Daughtry's "It's Not Over". The words expressed in the song touched a special place in his heart and he was "VERY" grateful that night.

12. Even if you're in the house together- send that text that simply says I Love You- it's amazing how those three little words can make someone smile.

13. Play little 'sex games'...start a rhyme and let your partner finish it. Ex. (your text) It's raining today, it's a good day to stay in bed...(their reply) and make love.

Temtping Tuesday - A Tidbit from Painted Soul

Andrew watched her nibble on her meal and make a few loose sketches from some photos she brought. He assumed they were taken while she was wandering gardens with Lynn. He loved watching her work. Inspiration came to him. He placed his food on a clean spot of his paint cart and picked up a brush.

He felt the emotion coming from deep within. The brush felt natural in his stiff hand. His arm felt warm and loose as he made his brush strokes. He was working on canvas paper, not one of his favorites, but perfect for sketching with paint. He focused on her face as she worked and ate. A sheet was quickly covered with an image, torn off and laid aside.

He then was enticed by her hand as it placed food into her mouth. He was aroused by her lips.

Another sheet was pulled off the pad and cast aside. She glanced up from her work to look at him. He felt himself drawn into her eyes. His brush flew across the sheet.

“Andrew,” his thoughts were interrupted, “your fish is getting cold. You should eat something.”

Elizabeth pulled herself to her feet and walked over to view the painted sheets cast aside by their creator. Andrew watched her, waiting for a comment.

“You’re back,” she faced him with a big smile, holding the two pieces. “These look like they were done by you.”

“Thank you,” his heart swelled with her response, “tell me more.”

“So, you want me to feed your ego,” Elizabeth put the second sheet down and held onto the other with both hands.

The piece was a collage of various views of her face. Hard lines showed her concentrating and soft brush lines gave the sketch a sensual look. She was amazed by how he could take a simple moment and find something so provocative.

“I’ve always loved how you use hard and soft lines with paint. You take something so ordinary and turn it into something beautiful.”

“You are not ordinary to me, my lady. You are most beautiful, my angel.”

Elizabeth seemed slightly unnerved and exchanged the first sheet for the second. This time she laughed.

“I’m eating!”

“But look at it,” he begged.

The painting made her think of a movie scene movie where the woman seduces her man with her sensual way of eating. Andrew focused primarily on the relation between her hand and her mouth. The fact there was food held by her fingertips was not important. The linear way he painted was very sexy.

“So you like what I can do with my hand and mouth, eh?”

She caught him off guard that time. He laughed as he got off his stool and stepped back so she could see his third piece, a simple piece.

“Oh, my,” she was quiet for a moment. “It’s a reflection, what you see in my eyes.”

“What do I see, Elizabeth?” He cautiously stood behind her.

“Desire, passion, heat,” she answered nervously. “The soft lines show love and pain.”

“You love me, yet my past has caused you pain,” he caressed both her arms. “I believe you still want me.”

He turned her toward him, not letting her out of his grasp.

“Do you still want me, Elizabeth? Do you still think of how I used to make you feel when I touched you? Do you want me to love you again?”

She stood frozen in front of him. A glaze went over her eyes, while a pain shot through his heart.

“Do you?” he gripped her harder. “Tell me, Elizabeth, do you want me?”

One Author Breaking The Genre Myths and Carving Her Own Path: Carol Storm

A: I’m happy to introduce to you today Carol Storm. Anyone here at Romance Writers Behaving Badly should know Carol. She’s the hot author breaking stereotypes and preconceptions and the writer behind Hialeah Heat and Hunted Witness as well as Glory and the Clever Cat.

I can’t wait to introduce you to this erotic author and her style.

Welcome to my batcave, Carol. This is going to be sweet. I always like to get a good feel for who I’m talking to, so let’s start with the most revealing question: What’s the kinkiest, sexiest thing you’ve ever done:

CS: Nothing unusual, really. A bit of on-table sex with the masseur at a spa in the Bahamas – and then his bodybuilder boyfriend walked in on us!

A: Whaaaat? I’ve been to the Bahamas and I didn’t get that kind of treatment. You’ll have to give me the name of that masseur… you know… for research.

Well, now that we’ve established just how naughty you can be in real life. Let’s talk writing, just how bad do you get with your writing, are we talking just suggestion or down right bondage?

CS: Suggestion usually works best for me – but sometimes things get out of hand!

A: I love the art of suggestion :> Give us a hint… What’s the best thing you’ve ever written—the best line?

CS: Kick’s body had a mind of its own. (Just kidding!)

Her nipples were throbbing just from the way he unbuttoned her blouse. (Really!)

A: You must think of some pretty hot, steamy stuff. Sometimes the men in reality don’t measure up… so let’s go pure fantasy. If you could have any movie star take on a role as one of your heroes, who would it be?

CS: Antonio Banderas as Kenny Marigold in my Urban Phaze novella, HIALEAH HEAT.

A: I love Antonio Banderas. I especially love how he’s a family man. That makes him ten times sexier. But ahem… we must always take into consideration (when choosing our men) just how much size counts… I don’t know how large Antonio is but… on average how loooooonnnnnggg do you like your (um, how do we put it delicately) manuscripts to be ;> ( in words silly, not inches) and how steamy?

CS: I’m working hard to stay aroused longer – and write over 20K words! I like vanilla sex best, but I love to experiment with playful spanking and light bondage now and then.

A: Honestly, I’m pretty vanilla myself with a hint of raspberry and swirl of chocolate. Hmmmm…mmmm. What are the hardest scenes to write for you?

CS: The ones where the hero shows vulnerability and need. I like them hard and in control!

A: Me TOO!!! Showing vulnerability at any time in real life or writing makes us dredge up emotions we may not want to deal with. So now it’s time for truth or dare: How close in real life have you gotten to one of your fantasies?

CS: Not close enough! But it’s fun to keep trying, on and off the printed page.

A: I could ask another million questions but I guess I’m running out of time. What would you want other writers and your readers to know about you?

CS: That Carol Storm is more than just the author of steamy sex scenes – when you read one of my books, expect glamorous locations, intrigue, danger, and a little humor as well!

A: And finally… anything you would like to share with us, an excerpt, a tidbit, or anything else about yourself?

Just that you can always hang out with me at my blog, THE STORM REPORT, and find out what I’m up to next! www.carol63storm.blogspot.com

A: Thanks Carol!!! I hope everyone enjoyed learning more about our authors. Are there questions I’m not asking??? Things you’re dying to know about our authors. Let me know at april.morelock@gmail.com and I’ll add them to my interviews.

Sultry Sunday- a tempting taste

Years ago, when I first started writing romance I was unsure how descriptive to be in sex scenes. Well this was my first attempt...needless to say if you read some of my more recent writings and blogs- you see my style and descriptions have dramatically expanded and improved.

As his tongue danced on her flesh, she began thrashing. Her back arching, she lifted her hips to meet his tongue’s performance.

“Malone,” she gasped breathlessly.

He climbed onto the bed and straddling her he slid his hands under her robe. His hands found her breasts and his fingers manipulated her nipples to complete arousal.

She groaned under his touch, “Oh.”

She felt his member growing hard and moaned again.

“Malone, I want you,” she growled sexually.

“I’m coming, babe,” he replied and spread her legs to allow him in.

Without warning, he plunged into her. She reveled in the feeling and gasped as she felt him enter.

With each thrust their rhythm took hold. They moved as one, their bodies meeting each other’s demands. Their cadence picked up.

Both were panting beyond belief when Sadie felt her first orgasm. She delighted in the feeling.

5. Having your own butler is decadent...and could be very dirty

6. Sheikh's are sexy and hot

Is Sex Work or Pleasure?

A U.S. Marine colonel was about to start the morning briefing to his staff. While waiting for the coffee to finish brewing, the colonel decided to pose a question to all assembled. He explained that his wife had been a bit frisky the night before and he failed to get his usual amount of sound sleep. He posed the question of just how much of sex was "work" and how much of it was "pleasure?"

A major chimed in with seventy-five percent in favor of work.

A captain said it was fifty-fifty.

A lieutenant responded with twenty-five percent in favor of work, depending upon his state of inebriation at the time.

There being no consensus, the colonel turned to the enlisted man who was in charge of making the coffee and asked for his opinion.

With no hesitation, the young man responded, "Sir, it has to be one-hundred percent pleasure."

The colonel asked why.

"Well, sir," he replied, "if there was any work involved, the officers would have me doing it for them."

====

So what do you think? Is sex work or pleasure? What does it depend on for it to be one way or the other?

Oh, and by the way -- the hunk here was downloaded legally at iStockPhoto.com. He'll be body doubling for Khyff Antonello in a trailer I'm making for my upcoming book, For Women Only. It's due out Tuesday, June 15th.

Back to the question -- what do you think? Work? Or pleasure?

Going Against the Grain

I recently wrote (and sold) an erotic contemporary romance. Not really earth shattering news when you think about it. However, I'm normally a fantasy/sci-fi erotic romance author. So, in a way, it is earth shattering for me. I wrote a story where none of the characters had any sort of supernatural ability and it didn't take place in a galaxy far, far away.

It's kicked off a new facet of writing for me. It's not usual for me to work on several things at the same time - in fact, I have three works in progress going at the moment. One paranormal/urban fantasy, one science fiction and one contemporary. Three completely different worlds where each have their own sets of rules, do's and don'ts and character personalities. How do I keep them all straight?

Meticulous notes!

But, just to make things even more complicated...the paranormal/urban fantasy is a m/f/m, the science fiction m/f and the contemporary m/m/f. While it's not the first time I've written m/f/m and certainly not the first with m/f it is a new adventure to undertake the m/m/f. I've written f/f and worked through the sex scenes with no problem whatsoever. However, the m/m scene I've been working seems to be more complicated.

Have had a few people ask me why I would undertake contemporary, not to mention m/m when it's not something I'd usually do. I respond with why not? I read it and enjoy it - I read a lot of things and enjoy it, not that it means I'll write in all sorts of genres just because I love reading it. But why not stretch my writing chops and make myself grow as a writer? I've never been someone who did "the norm".

What about you, writers? Anything you do out of the norm with your writing?

Readers, have you tried anything lately that was out of the norm for your reading habits?

Movies that make you go hmmmm….

There are so many interesting movies being released this year. From the action packed, drama, animated, horror, and to the comedies there is something for everyone. I have noticed a pattern to many of the movies – love. They all seem to have some underlying theme of love. Love of friends or family, intimate love or even the obsessive “if I can’t have you no one else will” or “I will have what you have or be you”.

It is interesting that the exploration of love can be done in so many ways. As an author I find this so fascinating. This exploration of love in so many vastly different ways. This is why my TBR pile is so large and my book library even larger. This is why there are so many writers with so many stories to tell. Stories that one reader may love while another may hate or be ambivalent to.

The same goes for movies. If you different movie viewer's how was a movie you get a different response. The gush that is was great and then the details of why. The shrugs that it was okay then a vague description of movie. The it was sucky and then the lament of all that was wrong with the movie. No matter which opinion the moviegoer has they have one. The same as readers do.

I listen to the thoughts on the movie but then I make my own decision on whether to see it or not. I’ve had movie critics or people who have seen a certain movie say it was the best thing ever. Yet when I saw it if I decided to go it was fantastically sucktastic. In my own humble opinion. The like or not of anything goes by the person. That persons taste or what they like. It even goes by the mood you might be in when you see it.

Movies have evolved year after year. Getting more great, weird, fantastical, special effecty, animated, worst or on and on of what you think. So the next time you go to the movies think of what your hmmmm reaction was and share it with someone.

There are lots of more movies releasing this year and each year forward. I’m going to enjoy going to see various movies and seeing no matter good, bad or indifferent what kind of hmmmm reaction I will have. After all a movie at least for me it’s all about the hmmmmm….

Introducing Comtemporary and Erotic Romance Author Dawne Prichilo

A: Things are hopping around here at Romance Writers Behaving Badly and with so many authors, its about time I introduce Dawne Prochilo!!!!

Dawne, it's so good to have you. I know your energy is pretty amazing and I'm glad to have you on here. There's so much to talk about but let's get straight to it. What’s the kinkiest, sexiest thing you’ve ever done?

D: Actually it was the most daring adrenalin rush- making love in a fairly secluded (because of the hour of the night) public place.

A: Reeeaaaaalllly.... just how secluded and how public??? Inquiring minds want to know. (I'm such a gossip monger. I know the dirt on all the naughty writers on this site... so it's okay, you can tell me :>)

Oh, okay, be shy. I'll keep your secret :>.  Surely, you're not so shy about your writing. Tell me, how bad do you get with your writing, are we talking just suggestion or down right bondage?

D: Mostly suggestive but I'm experimenting with my imagination and have started being more descriptive. I haven't reached full bondage (yet) but am working up to it. I prefer leaving a little to the imagination of the readers.

A: What's the best thing you’ve ever written—the best line?

D: It may not be the most arousing line but this one really gets my imagination revved up. It's the mental image of anticipation. I am more of a suggestive writer and thrive on letting the readers envision the scene versus playing it out word by word. "He slowly slipped his fingers between the silky fabric of her thong and her smooth inner thigh to ease the only barrier between him and heaven. Her tantalizing essence had him captivated."

A: Hmm... tantalizing hugh??? Definitely have me interested. Sometimes the best scenes aren't "in your face". Although... wowser, I'm getting ideas from this one.

Better stay on track. If you could have any movie star take on a role as one of your heroes, who would it be?

D: My choice would have to be Dr Joe Briggs, aka James Van Der Beek. Oh-la-la, he has the sex appeal with the innocence I crave in a hero. Plus he can fill out a pair of jeans (front and back view)
A: Maybe this next question will have you on a whole different direction than I meant after that comment. I'm sincerely interested in your writing... although your statement does beg the questions... Size counts… on average how loooooonnnnnggg do you like your (um, how do we put it delicately) manuscripts to be ;> ( in words silly, not inches) and how steamy?

D: On average my manuscripts for ebooks is about 65,000 with a heat level of between sultry and sizzling.

A: I'm barely hanging at 50K... I've got to work on that... Hey, gotta know, how close in real life have you gotten to one of your fantasies?

D: Most of my writing and sexual scenes come from personal experience so I would have to say I've fantasized about and have had the opportunity to fulfill them. Or vice versa.

A: Wowser... I'm interested in getting the low down on that. Do you have details? (Okay... I'll pull myself back to the topic at hand.)What would you want other writers and your readers to know about you?

D: Despite my innocent exterior- I am a naughty girl at heart.

A: I would say... and here I thought you were all lace and flannel nighties. Girlfriend. I've got to get you on the horn so I can get juicy details.

Okay... guess I"m running out of time. Anything you would like to share with us, an excerpt, a tidbit, or anything else about yourself?

D: An excerpt from Crape Myrtle- released in July 2009.

“Let me,” he whispered and swiftly stripped off the shirt.

When his hands were free again, he rubbed her upper arms and found where her damp robe met her shoulders. He tenderly pulled the fabric away from her skin exposing subtle shoulders. His mouth was drawn to the display and hungrily he tasted her.

She moaned with renewed pleasure and tossed her head back.

He placed his hands under her ample ass and squeezed with a sexual fury. She responded again with a whimper of bliss. Gathering up her robe he guided her backwards, her exposed ass colliding with the breakfast bar countertop.

He hoisted her up onto the cool granite counter. His hands continued massaging her skin. Moving around to her thighs, a deep growl formed in his throat as he kneaded her skin. He felt the dampness from her swim earlier and the slickness added to the intensity of the moment.

“Malone, please,” she begged.

“What,” he pleaded to hear her words, “What do you want?”

“I want you,” she sighed. “I want you now.”

With those words, he retuned his hands under her ass and scooped her up against him. She wrapped her legs around his waist and ran her fingers through his hair. Her mouth molded to his and she hungrily tasted him.

“Where,” he gasped when he tore his lips away from her. “Where can we go?”

“My bedroom,” she answered and began nibbling his neck.

With her securely embraced to his body, Walt made his way in the dark down the short hallway. He slammed through the bedroom door and practically tumbled onto the bed with her still clinging tightly to him.

“Hurry,” she demanded and grabbed for his belt buckle. She groped blindly until she had the clasp undone. She struggled to remove the leather strap to expose his zipper and button. Once she had those undone she slipped her hands into his jeans and felt his solid hips.

“Take them off,” she whispered in between ravaged kisses.

He complied and stood up removing his jeans and his boxers. He knelt onto the floor in front of the bedside and began kissing her upper thighs. His tongue traveled slowly upward and with each inch and lick, he heard Sadie moan. Her sexual enjoyment was arousing him more.

Oh, Lordy... Lordy... That's smokin' Dawne. I'm looking forward to more!!!! Keep us updated. You've got steamy things on the way.
