Celebrating Love

Today is my 14th wedding anniversary. I can't believe we are in double digits already and making our way to the big 20 years, bit by bit. It has been an eventful year for us, one I probably wouldn't have made it through without my husband by my side.

On top of all that mushy, lovey-dovey stuff, I had two books released in the last two weeks. The first was for my vampire series and the second was my first in a new cop series I am calling Kissin Cops. It is because of my husband that I wrote about detectives from the LA County Sheriff's Dept. Such a handy guy to have around.

Now, to help me celebrate, I want to show a couple ways to express love, eye-candy style!

  • For it was not into my ear you whispered, but into my heart. It was not my lips you kissed, but my soul.” ~ Judy Garland

  • Love takes off masks that we fear we cannot live without and know we cannot live within.~ James A. Baldwin

When you're in love you never really know whether your elation comes from the qualities of the one you love, or if it attributes them to her; whether the light which surrounds her like a halo comes from you, from her, or from the meeting of your sparks. ~ Natalie Clifford Barney

A kiss, when all is said, what is it? A rosy dot placed on the 'I' in loving; Tis a secret told to the mouth instead of to the ear.~Edmond Rostand

  • Love conquers all.~ Virgil

(Okay, in all honesty I thought Virgil's quote would be perfect for a sword wielding hottie!)

Today I am sure that my husband and I will go out for a nice dinner and maybe catch a movie, (please not Shutter Island, please, please, please...) When I think about celebrating love I think about those private, intimate kisses that go beyond the physical and touch the heart. It is also an honesty of self one freely shares. It reflects back at you in a shining example of feeling. And, as Virgil so eloquently puts it, love conquers all.

How do you celebrate love? Is it in a touch, a note, something spoken in a private moment between lovers? Or simply holding hands in the still of the night?

I am off to celebrate with good food and great company.

Hey Chloe! Thanks for the congrats! I really love quotes, they always seem to say, so eloquently, what I am thinking.

Congratulations on your anniversary! And great blog post! My husband and I always play fight to show our love, we get into arguments that we know are fake to ease the times when they are real. And he tickles me all the time!

Happy anniversary! My hubby and I blow kisses at each other, simply because we enter or leave a room, or because we just want to. He will turn around from his computer and say, "Hey." When I look up, he blows me a kiss. If I put a kiss on my fingertips and blow it at him, he'll pretend it hit him and then go "Wow!" It drove our kids crazy when they were teens. lol
